The Chinese zodiac year changes at Lunar New Year, not on January 1. If a birthday falls in January or February, confirm the Lunar New Year date for that birth year before selecting an animal.

Getting a more accurate Chinese zodiac reading
Begin with the correct animal. Because the zodiac follows the lunar calendar, a January or February birthday may belong to the previous zodiac year. Once the animals are confirmed, the tool compares traditional alliances, contrasting temperaments, and ways each sign tends to approach trust, pace, and conflict.
Add the Five Elements
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water modify the expression of an animal sign. Two people who share an animal can therefore show different priorities or emotional styles. The result is most useful as a broad first layer, followed by attention to the birth-year element and real behavior.
Read strengths and tensions together
An easy pairing still needs honesty and boundaries; a challenging pairing can work when both people communicate and adapt. Instead of asking whether two animals are “meant to be,” choose one strength to support and one tension to discuss.
